Getting started on the Internet with a niche
business can be an exciting way to explore the
world of online marketing. There are just a few
things you need in order to get started, including
a website, an autoresponder service, and a free
giveaway to get people to join your list. Let's take
a closer look at each one of these elements so
that you can get started right away.
Once you have chosen your topic, purchase a
domain name and hosting. That will allow you to
set up a site you own and control, rather than a
free one that could be removed at any time. I
highly recommend using the free installation of
WordPress to set up your site. One part of this site
will be your blog, where you discuss your niche
topic and share your thoughts and ideas with
your readers. Even if you do not like to write you
will find that after a month or so of posting two or
three times a week you will have found your voice
and feel more comfortable.
The next step is to get a subscription to a paid
autoresponder service so you can send out emails
to people who subscribe to your list. This allows
you to stay in touch with them for as long as they
are on your list. You will find that your subscriber
list is one of the biggest assets you have, and that
these are the people who are most likely to
become your customers over time. Always be
honest with them and share your very best
content and resources so will get to know, like,
and trust you.
You must offer a free giveaway to get people to
join your list in the first place, and this can be
written material, audio, or video. I teach my
students to write three articles or blog posts on
their niche topic and then combine these into a
short report that can be given away. Be sure to
have a call to action at the end of your report so
you can direct readers to an affiliate product, one
of your articles or posts, or to another site that
makes sense for what you are sharing.
By now you can see that what I am describing
here is a simple process, and it is one that works
extremely well. Everything can be set up within a
one or two day period and then you are ready to
start building your online business.
